Welcome to the home page of the Guideline Project Committee
1.2. Our Committee is focused on the development of a new
guideline for
commissioning existing buildings. This guideline will provide guidance to
building owners, commissioning providers
and all others involved in the commissioning of existing buildings.
The TPS Statements for the GPC are as follows:
ASHRAE Guideline 0.2P,
TITLE: The Commissioning Process for
Existing Building Systems and Assemblies
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this guideline is to
describe the procedures, methods, documentation requirements and
physical activities of the commissioning process using the principles
developed in ASHRAE Guideline 0, The Commissioning Process.
SCOPE:
This guideline applies to existing
building systems and assemblies.
ASHRAE Guideline
1.2P Proposed TPS:
TITLE: HVAC&R Technical Requirements of
the Commissioning Process for Existing Building Systems and Assemblies.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this
guideline is to describe the technical requirements of the commissioning
process for existing HVAC&R systems and assemblies, based on the
processes described in ASHRAE Guideline 0.2P-200X, The
Commissioning Process for Existing Systems and Assemblies.
SCOPE:
The
guideline applies to existing HVAC&R systems and assemblies.
The Committee currently has seven subcommittees, each working on developing a
specific step in the commissioning process. The guideline will form part of the ASHRAE commissioning guideline series,
the basis of which is formed by guideline 0, available
in the ASHRAE bookstore at
this link. Guideline 1, specifically geared to the commissioning of HVAC
systems, is
available at
this link.
Guideline 0 provides a framework for commissioning new buildings and is
not written for any particular system or building component.
Instead, it describes the generic process of commissioning, applicable for
all elements of construction.
Guideline 1 provides assistance by applying guideline 0 specifically to
HVAC Systems.
Guideline 1.2 will describe the commissioning process for all elements of
construction in an existing building, and may in
the future be complemented by a guideline specifically aimed at particular
systems within existing buildings.
If you are a building owner or operator, commissioning agent or contractor with an interest in commissioning
existing buildings, please look at our membership page to find out who to contact for questions or ideas.
To see why commissioning of existing buildings in particular is so relevant in today's world,
please read the 2006 ASHRAE Presidential Address by Terry Townsend.
